For the prevention and treatment of the nausea, vomiting, or dizziness associated with motion sickness.

  Dimenhydrinate is the chlorotheophylline salt of the antihistaminic agent diphenhydramine. Dimenhydrinate contains not less than 53% and not more than 56% of diphenhydramine, and not less than 44% and not more than 47% of 8-chlorotheophylline, calculated on the dried basis.

Active Ingredients:   DRAMAMINE Tablets and Chewable Tablets: Dimenhydrinate 50 mg.

CHILDREN'S DRAMAMINE: Dimenhydrinate 12.5 mg per 5 mL.

Inactive Ingredients:   DRAMAMINE Original Formula Tablets:  Colloidal Silicon Dioxide, Croscarmellose Sodium, Lactose, Magnesium Stearate, Microcrystalline Cellulose.

DRAMAMINE Chewable Formula Tablets: Aspartame, Citric Acid, FD&C Yellow No. 5 (Tartrazine) and FD&C Yellow No. 6 as color additives, Flavor, Magnesium Stearate, Methacrylic Acid Copolymer, Sorbitol.

Phenylketonurics:  Contains Phenylalanine 1.5 mg per tablet.

CHILDREN'S DRAMAMINE: Red No. 40, Flavor, Glycerin, Methylparaben, Sucrose, and Water.

Actions:   While the precise mode of action of dimenhydrinate is not known, it is thought to have a depressant action on hyperstimulated labyrinthine function.

Directions:

DRAMAMINE Original Formula Tablets and Chewable Formula Tablets:   To prevent motion sickness, the first dose should be taken one half to one hour before starting activity. Adults : 1 to 2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours, not to exceed 8 tablets in 24 hours or as directed by a doctor.

Children 6 to under 12 years : 1 / 2 to 1 tablet every 6 to 8 hours, not to exceed 3 tablets in 24 hours or as directed by a doctor.

Children 2 to under 6 years : 1 / 4 to 1 / 2 tablet every 6 to 8 hours not to exceed 1 1 / 2 tablets in 24 hours or as directed by a doctor.

Children may also be given CHILDREN'S DRAMAMINE in accordance with directions for use.

CHILDREN'S DRAMAMINE:    To prevent motion sickness, the first dose should be taken one half to one hour before starting activity. Children 2 to under 6 years : 1 to 2 teaspoonfuls (5 ml per teaspoonful) every 6 to 8 hours, not to exceed 6 teaspoonfuls in 24 hours or as directed by a doctor. Children 6 to under 12 years : 2 to 4 teaspoonfuls every 6 to 8 hours, not to exceed 12 teaspoonfuls in 24 hours or as directed by a doctor. Children 12 years or older (and adults) : 4 to 8 teaspoonfuls every 4 to 6 hours, not to exceed 32 teaspoonfuls in 24 hours or as directed by a doctor. Use of a measuring device is recommended for all liquid medication.

:   Do not take this product, unless directed by a doctor, if you have a breathing problem such as emphysema or chronic bronchitis, or if you have glaucoma or difficulty in urination due to enlargement of the prostate gland. Do not give to children under 2 years of age unless directed by a doctor. May cause marked drowsiness; alcohol, sedatives, and tranquilizers may increase the drowsiness effect. Avoid alcoholic beverages while taking this product. Do not take this product if you are taking sedatives or tranquilizers, without first consulting your doctor. Use caution when driving a motor vehicle or operating machinery. Not for frequent or prolonged use except on advice of a doctor. Do not exceed recommended dosage. Keep this and all drugs out of the reach of children. In case of accidental overdose, seek professional assistance or Contact a Poison Control Center immediately.
